November 14th - We All Go Astray

“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, or no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” (2 Peter 1:2-3)
Peter begins his letter by saying that all Scripture is from God. Then he warns his listeners of false teachers who would arise and be among them…
“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them....” (2 Peter 2:1)

I suspect false teachers think that they are not…so I read the Bible for myself to see if any destructive heresies have been secretly introduced into the church - and have found some.
I occasionally mention some of them like the teaching of eternal conscious torment which to me seems like the most egregious, yet
even that sin, a destructive heresy, was laid on Christ Jesus,

"We all like sheep have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus...now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the fruit you reap leads to holiness, and the outcome is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 3:23-24; 6:23)

Thank you Jesus!
