November 4th - The Election that Really Counts

"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:20)

The only vote that really matters is God's and He voted to save humanity - all of us - both friends and enemies. God is obviously not like us!

“…while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation…. one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.…God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ...” (Romans 5:10-11; 2 Corinthians 5:14-20)

Humanity from God's point of view are not Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Communists, Socialists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, or Atheist - just sinners who need to be saved.

"What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things? Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us...I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:31-38)

Yep, humanity has won the election that counts. As for the political election today, the winner has been determined by God, at least that is how I view the following verses of Scripture... 

“...there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God.” (Romans 13:1-2)

“…the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone He wishes and sets over them the lowliest of humans.” (Daniel 4:17)

If my favorite candidate does not win, I will be sad, but I will try my best not to oppose the lowliest of humans who are "established by God".
