“Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive….those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” C.S. Lewis (1898-1963)
I rarely quote men, however this quote seems appropriate in our current political environment. What politicians want is to get us to accept their particular form of "tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims". And apparently they do so "with the approval of their own conscience". I find it "most oppressive" and it seems they will be "tormenting us without end".
“Jesus wept…” (John 11:35)
The Son of God through whom all creation was made wept over the death of his friend Lazarus because He LOVED him….and then He raised him from the dead!
The Son of God through whom all creation was made wept over the death of his friend Lazarus because He LOVED him….and then He raised him from the dead!
Can anyone love humanity enough to raise them all from the dead? Yes!
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
"I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:3)
"…see the Son coming in a cloud with power and great glory, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near…" (Luke 21:17)
"For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Than those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If our hope in Christ is for this life alone, we are to be pitied... But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. Each in his own turn: Christ the firstfruits; then at His coming, those who belong to Him. Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power." (1 Corinthians 15:17-22, 54)
"This is a trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance. To this end we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of everyone, and especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things." (1 Timothy 4:9-11)
Governments of men "torment us without end" but the final government of God for redeemed humanity will bless us without end."Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with humanity. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:1-4)
Makes me weep also….for JOY!
