April 10th - The Hope of Resurrection

“Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.” (Acts 4:1-2)

Modern day Sadducees (most Philosophers and the more liberal Theologians) question the resurrection. They have no such hope and ridicule those of us who do. Nevertheless, if the bible is true, the resurrection is going to happen whether anyone believes it or not. And, those who expect it have peace as they approach death.

“As in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:22)

"…we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of humanity, who have no expectation (hope)…For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Jesus is alive so we have a glorious expectation that gives us peace!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living expectation (hope) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)
